SHENZHEN -- Foxconn has admitted to working employees more than twice China's legal limits. As reported by Circuits Assembly on June 14, the contract assembler was alleged to have been directing its hourly staff to work as much as 80 extra hours each month. China labor law permits employees to work no more than 36 hours of overtime per month. According to a report published today by China SCR, Foxconn acknowledged that workers were performing up to 80 hours per month of overtime. However, the report said Foxconn spokesperson Li Zong disputed that the company underpaid its employees. Li said the media misunderstood the company's complicated salary structure, and that Foxconn has paid the workers according to the minimum salary standards of the local government, China SCR reported. China SCR also reported Li as saying an Apple investigative team found no problems at the company.
