| USI's EMS Sales Fall 18% in December |

NANTOU, TAIWAN – Universal Scientific Industrial Co. reported consolidated net EMS revenues of $21.8 million for the month ended Dec. 31, down 18% sequentially and 55% from the same period last year. The company, a top 25 global EMS company, reported total sales of $490.4 million for its EMS segment in 2008. EMS makes up 18% of its total sales in Taiwanese dollars. Overall, the company reported sales of NT$3,908 million, down 6% sequentially and 40% year-over-year.
The computers and peripherals group, which makes up of 29% of the company's revenue (in Taiwanese dollars), was down marginally on a sequential basis and 51%
year-over-year. Communications, which makes up 23% of revenues, were down 2% sequentially and 19% from last year. Network storage and servers, which make up 14% of revenue, were down 11% sequentially and 36% year-over-year. Industrial and automotive products (15% of revenues) were up 3% sequentially and down 7% year-over-year.
