SAN JOSE – The EMS market will continue to grow briskly in the coming years as electronics manufacturing outsourcing continues its relentless march, reports Electronic Trend Publications. The research firm reports EMS industry revenue will nearly double in the next five years, reaching $442 billion in 2011.

Revenue for the worldwide EMS market was $223 billion in 2006, a 17% increase over 2005, ETP says.

Recent research by ETP also found that Asian factories accounted for 54% of the industry's production last year; the computer and peripherals market was responsible for 38% of the industry's revenue, and Foxconn (Hon Hai) is the largest EMS provider, with revenues now more than twice those of No. 2 Flextronics.

ETP’s report, “The Worldwide Electronics Manufacturing Service Market, Fourth Edition,” is available from the company.
