Many thanks to the publisher and Katsuaki, when I met him in Japan, for allowing me to see a copy of his lead-free handbook which is, in fact, a paperback. It is unfortunately in Japanese but if you are able to read Japanese then you should read this or wait till the middle of 2003 for the new edition in English. Looking at the graphs, diagrams and images the text covers many of the key aspects of the technology and also covered the subject of fillet lifting. Katsuaki Suganuma was one of the first researchers to examine and define some of the common causes of the solder fillet lifting from the surface of the pad after soldering. As it's a paperback and the English version will be available during 2003 it
should be worth waiting for.
