By James K. Hollomon, Jr. It has been years since I first reviewed this book. The text has undergone small updates since my first review. However, it seems that the publisher has lost the original files because the updates appear to be in a different font. No mention is given to the differences. Very little has been done to update the diagrams or photographs. You may think from these opening remarks that the book is not worth considering, but this is not the case. This book is listed on my "top ten." It is still one of the best introductions to surface-mount design, and for US$44.95, it is still one of the cheapest in the industry. I think it should have been updated with a little more style, but it is well worth the investment. Even seasoned process engineers can learn some new tricks.
