WASHINGTON – The US Department of Justice has requested additional information from Ultra Electronics Holdings and Sparton in connection with Ultra's pending acquisition of Sparton, according to published reports.

Per the HSR Act, the second requests are meant to extend the waiting period until 30 days after Ultra and Sparton have complied with requests, unless both firms extend that period voluntarily or the DoJ terminates it sooner.

The transaction is subject to approval by Sparton's shareholders and other approvals, as well as other customary closing conditions.

The firms target completing the transaction by Jan. 1.
