WEST PALM BEACH, FL -- MacDermid Performance Solutions, the business unit which includes Alpha Assembly, said net sales jumped 153% over 2015 to $455 million for the three months ended Sept. 30.

Excluding the impact of currency changes and metals prices, organic sales increased 1.8% year-over-year.

The unit includes Alpha Assembly Materials and Enthone (Alent), which had $227 million in sales in the same quarter 2015. The company said market growth for Alpha was "relatively flat" during the period.

Adjusted EBITDA was $110 million, an increase of 6.5% from comparable adjusted EBITDA in the third quarter 2015. On a comparable constant currency basis, adjusted EBITDA increased 9.2%.

Net sales grew over 2015 due to increased demand in electronics businesses and strong growth in Asian automotive business despite negative currency pressures. Sales into offshore markets remained weak due to reduced capital expenditures in the industry.

Platform Specialty Products' overall net sales for the third quarter were $891 million, up 49.1%. Excluding the impact of currency changes, metals prices and divestitures, organic sales increased 3% year-over-year.
